About Rick Siegel

Rick Siegel is an award-winning Director of Photography who has worked in film and television for over 30 years. Siegel was the DP on the Emmy-nominated HBO Special Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill, starring Audra McDonald. His narrative film work includes the feature films Bomber, directed by Paul Cotter, Trust, Greed, Bourbon & Bullets, directed by Scott Kawczynski, and the short films The Shovel, The Dare Project, and 20 Dollar Drink.

Siegel’s most recent work includes the concert film with Bill Murray, New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization, Vogue World Runway Show, Broadway shows; The Play That Goes Wrong and Trevor The Musical, Peacock music special Miley Cyrus Presents Stand By You, shot at The Ryman Auditorium, Global Citizen broadcast performances with Lorde and Fugees, Netflix feature documentary Becoming with Michelle Obama and Netflix feature documentary, Dick Johnson Is Dead, PBS Series, Closer To The Truth, Comedy special for HBO Max; Chelsea Handler: Evolution. Siegel won an EMMY Award for Outstanding Achievement for Single Camera Photography for his episodic narrative work on ABC’s Crash The Curiousaurus. He has designed and photographed over 200 televised music and comedy shows, ranging from several seasons of A&E’s Live By Request series, PBS’s In the Spotlight series and other programs with Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Brad Paisley, Thomas Hampson, Sheryl Crow and The Weeknd and comedy specials for John Oliver, Craig Ferguson, Lewis Black, Kevin Hart and Wyatt Cenac.

He has lit and photographed many of Diane Sawyer and Barbra Walters’ Celebrity interviews for ABC/Disney and Walters’ annual Most Fascinating People Specials. Siegel’s commercial and streaming clients include MTV, Condé Nast, Duracell, Reebok, and Time-Life. In his fashion and fragrance work, he has worked with many top designers, such as Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Calvin Klien, Ralph Lauren, etc.
